Due to the popularity of the Juneteenth event, and also wanting to share the womans' perspective; an "I AM BLACK Part II: Her Story" to discuss the impact that hate crimes and police brutality have on black women in the 21st century will premiere on September 15 at 8pm.
This powerful conversation will take place exactly 57-years after four young black girls (Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson, and Carol Denise McNair) died by the hands of KKK members who bombed the 16th St. Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL.
Angel says, "What I've learned is that many people didn't know that their was a 5th girl in the bathroom alongside the 4 girls who died...she is Sarah Collins Rudolph...and she is our featured guest."
Joining Sarah Collins Rudolph in the conversation:
Former Maryland Democratic Party Chair ... and widow of Congressman Elijah Cummings - Mrs. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings.
The first black woman to produce and own a production company that released a theatrically faith-based film, entitled A Question of Faith. Angela White is also a member of the Producer's Guild of America.
Attorney Sue Ann Robinson was named one of the "Top Ten Black Women Lawyers You Should Know" in the Nation by Black Enterprise Magazine ... and she's the go-to news analyst for Police Misconduct.
Black women are impacted by hate crimes and police brutality in the 21st century. Two major ways, Livas identifies:
Black women are often left to take on the responsibilities of home alone when their spouses/boyfriends are killed due to police brutality
Malcolm X once stated that the black woman is the most disrespected, unprotected and neglected person in America - we'll explore why this is...and what needs to happen to change this narrative.
