Four days in to Women’s History Month 2025 and we are once again reminded that while Black women continue to be the backbone of progress, recognition and respect remain elusive. From boardrooms to the ballot box, from corporate spaces to creative industries, our contributions fuel change, yet we are still fighting for equal pay, fair opportunities, and the acknowledgment we rightfully deserve.

Despite these ongoing challenges, Black women do what we have always done... show up, lead, and uplift our communities. Jackets for Jobs, Inc. (JFJ) embodies this resilience, celebrating "25 years of empowering job seekers" by providing professional attire and career resources in Detroit. Their milestone event, “Clothed in Confidence: 25 Years Strong,” taking place on March 20, at Motor City Casino, is a testament to the power of preparation, confidence, and the undeniable force of Black women supporting one another.

Hosted by Chuck Bennett, Fox 2 News Style Guru, the event will feature Cynthia Bailey (model, entrepreneur, and Real Housewives of Atlanta alum) as the keynote speaker. Bailey, a champion for women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, will share insights from her journey, reinforcing the importance of confidence in building success.

Founder and CEO Alison Vaughn has spent decades ensuring that economic independence isn’t just a dream but a reality for thousands. JFJ has "helped over 40,000 job seekers present themselves with dignity and step into new opportunities." The celebration will also honor Dennis Archer Jr., Esq., a business and civic leader, and Karen Hume, retired District Manager of TJ Maxx, for their dedication to the organization and the Detroit community.

This Women’s History Month, as we continue to demand the respect Black women have more than earned, let’s also recognize and support those who are doing the work. Jackets for Jobs is a shining example that when we invest in one another, we thrive... whether or not the world gives us our flowers. Because as history has shown, Black women will always find a way to bloom.
