Millennials, and Millennials only, please step to the front! Many of us have witnessed the evolution of social media firsthand, and the extinction of a platform feels all too familiar. For the younger generations, let me take you down memory lane. The year was 2003, and Myspace had officially launched. This app had teenagers under its spell with customizable wallpaper designs, embedded music and videos, and the infamous "Top 8" feature, where you could showcase who reigned supreme in your friend group. Trust me, you had to be there

The ability to pivot is nothing new for us Millennials. With the TikTok ban that has already occurred, we may find ourselves mourning the loss of yet another platform, but we’ll regroup and strategize, finding the next space to express ourselves, share experiences, make new friends, and use as a source of income.

Perhaps you're asking yourself, "which app will give me the same feel as TikTok?" To that, I would say, "check out Fanbase," a black-owned social media platform owned by Isaac Hayes III, and launched in 2018. Fanbase is giving creators the opportunity to start making money right away and if that wasn't enough to persuade you, fanbase is all about building community and simultaneously empowering that same community to invest in their own dreams while owning shares within the company.

A fresh start, should be what we take away from this ban seeing that we will miss the viral dances, oldies [music] being reintroduced to a newer generation, and even 50-part stories we just couldn't seem to pull away from. Change is inevitable, but grinding will always be a constant.

Explore the Fanbase app, and let's learn together. I must admit that having to take the time to learn something new after feeling like you have already perfected TikTok can be daunting; but trust me, Fanbase has numerous methods to engage and build revenue. From creating posts, stories, going live, Flickz, and even creating podcast-like engagement with audio rooms the possibilities are limitless.

Hayes III, shared in an exclusive with Women for the Culture, "Fanbase stands out because it was born from a pure place: to give every single person on the planet the opportunity to have all their content seen, without being shadow banned, and with optional monetization if they choose."

He continues, "Our mission has always been to remove the limitations legacy platforms place on users’ views because they run ads, while also providing equitable monetization without unnecessary requirements or biased algorithms that often suppress people of color. We stand by our promise to let you be you without limits and will always live up to that as an inclusive, free speech community."

Women for the Culture, is on board for the shift in change, specifically when it comes to supporting anything "for us and by us." Let us know if Fanbase is for you and if not, where you will continue to create content. Lastly, follow us on Fanbase at https://fanbase.app.link/wmoLBAoihQb!
