As Black women, we are the backbone of change, the catalysts for progress, and the embodiment of resilience. Yet, in a world that often takes without giving back, it’s vital that we remember to reclaim our time, our dreams, and our power. Kimberly Pack, CEO and Founder of Ascend Together, is leading that charge with Sacred Rest Live: An Inauguration Reclamation Day for Black Women. This transformative workshop, set to take place on January 20, in Los Angeles, is a response to the deep disappointment many Black women felt during the last election cycle... a moment that Kimberly describes as a personal reckoning of rejection and betrayal.

Kimberly, a Spelman College and Harvard Law School graduate, recalls how she eagerly anticipated the historic swearing-in of Vice President Kamala Harris as president, going so far as to purchase a plane ticket to witness the moment in person. However, when those hopes were dashed, the emotional blow reverberated deeply. "Black women felt betrayed, extremely disappointed, and it reminded us of our own rejections despite being the better person for a role," she explains. But rather than allowing the pain to consume her, Kimberly decided to channel it into something healing and empowering. Her message is clear: Black women must reclaim their hopes and dreams, become their own heroes, and honor the power within themselves.

The upcoming workshop, hosted at The WalkGood Yard, a sanctuary for healing and transformation in South Los Angeles, is designed to help participants do just that. Sacred Rest Live will offer a space for Black women to reconnect with themselves and each other through activities like a Dream Lab, restorative yoga, and a sound bath led by Marley Rae, a co-founder of The WalkGood Yard and a trailblazer in creative wellness. Kimberly emphasizes that this day is about tending to ourselves, saving ourselves, and celebrating the joy and resilience that have always defined Black womanhood.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Blooming Through Literacy, a program founded by Brianna Laren that provides affirming books to classrooms, including titles like Black Boys Deserve Flowers Too and Pretty Pretty Black Girl. By supporting the literacy and self-esteem of Black children, Sacred Rest Live extends its impact beyond the event itself, affirming the value of community and collective growth.

Kimberly’s passion for helping others is rooted in her own extensive experience as a business strategist and wellness coach. Through Ascend Together, she has spent two decades helping professionals and founders cut through the noise, tap into their unique strengths, and center themselves to achieve success. “Black women are my specialty,” Kimberly says proudly. “I help my clients become the CEO of their lives, especially in the face of challenges and setbacks.”

For Kimberly, Sacred Rest Live is about much more than a single day of rest and reflection. It’s a movement to remind Black women of their inherent worth, their right to dream, and their capacity to heal and transform their communities. "January 20 isn’t what many of us hoped for, but that doesn’t diminish our brilliance or our ability to rest, heal, and reclaim our power," she says. "We are sacred. We are worthy. We are light workers."

As the event approaches, Kimberly’s vision is clear: Black women will not allow external factors, including the outcome of an election, to define their worth or their potential. Sacred Rest Live is an opportunity to rekindle hope, restore energy, and reimagine what’s possible for ourselves and our communities.

With activities that nurture both body and soul and a commitment to giving back through literacy initiatives, Sacred Rest Live is more than a workshop; it’s a declaration of Black women’s power and resilience. Kimberly’s unwavering belief that "we’re all we’ve got, and that’s always been more than enough" serves as the foundation for this revolutionary event.

For those ready to reclaim January 20, registration is still open for Sacred Rest Live. Together, we will rest, heal, and rise, because no matter who resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Black women will continue to dream, lead, and shine.
